2025 is a pivotal year for the future of shipping. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set an ambitious strategy for reducing the sector’s greenhouse gas emissions.
This strategy set the stage for transformative change across the maritime sector and 2025 will be the year when the details fall into place.
In April, IMO member states will convene at the Marine Environment Protection Committee 83 (MEPC 83) to hammer out the details of specific measures that will guide the sector’s decarbonisation in the years to come. This is a pivotal moment for the maritime industry to strengthen its climate commitments and set a clearer course toward a sustainable future.
Experts from the Global Maritime Forum and our wider network can offer valuable insights into the upcoming negotiations at the International Maritime Organization. From policy developments to the broader transition of the maritime industry, our spokespeople can discuss the key issues shaping the sector and what these negotiations mean for its future.
