2025 Sea Cargo Charter Annual Disclosure Report

Transparency

The 2025 Sea Cargo Charter Annual Disclosure Report reveals the climate alignment scores of 34 reporting signatories, which represent around 18% of global wet and dry bulk cargo transported by sea in 2024. Key findings include:

  • 19 of 34 reporting signatories have reduced their emission intensity over the last year, and eight improved their climate alignment score year-on-year

  • Signatories were on average 12% behind the IMO's minimum international climate targets and 18% behind the striving targets

  • Several signatories reported enhanced integration of emissions metrics into operational and chartering decisions

  • Over 90% of signatories leveraged third-party verification to ensure quality data and robust results (compared to around 50% last year)

The Sea Cargo Charter fosters data-driven decarbonisation efforts, transparent emission reporting, and benchmarking. By bringing together charterers, shipowners, and operators, we enable signatories to assess the climate implications of their activities, benchmark them against internationally agreed-upon goals, and engage in data-driven dialogue internally and with their partners.
