The Poseidon Principles 2025 Annual Disclosure Report provides a comprehensive snapshot of where global ship finance stands in relation to the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) climate ambitions.
Now in its sixth edition, the report shows that ship financiers’ lending portfolios are moving steadily closer to climate alignment with the IMO’s decarbonisation pathways. Average alignment scores against the IMO’s minimum trajectory improved by nearly eight percentage points, even as the IMO continues to tighten its targets year on year.
In 2025, signatories disclosed 95% of their eligible portfolios, marking one of the highest average reporting rates in the history of the Poseidon Principles. This strong level of transparency underscores the growing commitment of financial institutions to measuring and managing climate-related risks in maritime finance.
